After calculating the totals from the last ROLEX Grand American race at Mt. Tremblant, Team Sahlen driver Will Nonnamaker continues to lead the field for the Bob Akin award.
"I am continuing to pursue this award as the season goes on. It honors a driver who wants to put the time in at the track, excel, and just has a love of racing. I would be honored to receive this award at the end of the season," stated Nonnamaker.
Grand American fans will continue to cheer on Nonnamaker and for good reason. Nonnamaker's record reflects skillful driving with an excellent collection of wins that is highlighted with championships. He hopes that this weekend at Watkins Glen will bring him his first win of the 2005 season.
The Bob Akin award itself is given in remembrance of Bob Akin, an intense passionate driver who lost his life during a test a Road Atlanta. Points for the award are calculated via the finishing position as well as gaining one point per mile driven.
